Your Rights as a Maryland Homeowner
Maryland gives homeowners specific protections when working with a licensed contractor. We think you should know about them — including the ones that apply to us.
You can ask the Commission about any contractor
Every home improvement contractor in Maryland must be licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission, and anyone may ask the Commission about a contractor

The MHIC Guaranty Fund
The Commission administers a Guaranty Fund that may compensate homeowners for certain actual losses caused by the acts or omissions of licensed contractors.
Free mediation through the Commission
Formal mediation of disputes between homeowners and contractors is available through the Commission.
We do not require arbitration
Our contract does not require arbitration. Nothing in it limits, delays, or conditions your right to file a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission or to pursue a claim against the Guaranty Fund.
You may request a performance bond
A homeowner may request that a contractor purchase a performance bond for additional protection against losses not covered by the Guaranty Fund.
Warranties cover what happens after the job. Our Customer Bill of Rights covers how we treat you during it — transparent pricing, respect for your property, and clear communication at every stage.
